Peter Gilbert - Attorney
Peter Gilbert has carried on the Gilbert family tradition of providing principled legal counsel to those in and around Skagit County. Mr. Gilbert began his career with ardor when he accepted an internship with the Skagit County Public Defender’s office while attending law school. Following his graduation, he worked as a deputy prosecutor for the Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney’s office from 1999 to 2001.
After his years as a prosecutor, Mr. Gilbert established his own practice, The Law Office of Peter Gilbert. For two years, he exclusively provided criminal defense services before joining his family’s longstanding firm, Gilbert & Gilbert Lawyers Inc, which was founded by his grandfather in 1921.
He worked alongside his brother, Warren M. Gilbert, and his father, Warren J. Gilbert, Jr., for about five years until his father’s retirement in 2007. At the same time, his brother, Warren M. Gilbert, was elected as a Skagit County District Court judge. Peter manned the family firm as a sole practitioner until 2011, when his sister, Jayne Gilbert, rejoined him.
Outside of the firm, Pete Gilbert is an avid skier and golfer. In his young adulthood, he was an Eagle Scout and also interned for former Senator Brock Adams in Washington, D.C.
