We are the longest-standing law firm in Mount Vernon, having provided principled legal counsel continuously since 1921. The third generation of Gilbert & Gilbert Lawyers continues the tradition of exceptional service that our reputation has been built upon for over 100 years.

Warren John Gilbert, Sr. formed his law practice in Mount Vernon, Washington in 1921. In 1926 he moved his office to the Matheson Building at 314 Pine Street where it is still located today. His son, Warren J. Gilbert, Jr. [Bud] became a partner in 1954. Bud’s children, Warren Matheson Gilbert, Peter Andrew Gilbert and Jayne Marsh Gilbert followed in their father’s and grandfather’s footsteps: Warren M. Gilbert was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1986 and practiced civil litigation in the office for over 20 years until his election to the Skagit District Court bench in 2006. He remains a District Court Judge in Skagit County. Peter A. Gilbert was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1999 and joined the Firm in 2002 after working as a prosecutor and later operating a solo criminal defense practice.  Jayne Marsh Gilbert was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1995 and joined the firm, practicing law until her move to Alaska. She was admitted to the Alaska State Bar in 1990 and the State of California Bar in 1995 before returning to Gilbert & Gilbert Lawyers in 2011. Jayne maintains her Washington and California licenses.  This third generation of Gilbert & Gilbert Lawyers, Peter A. Gilbert and Jayne Marsh Gilbert, continue the tradition of exceptional service that has been maintained for over 100 years.
